India’s landmarks, including government buildings, historic monuments, and busy airports, were drenched in saffron, white, and green on the eve of the country’s 79th Independence Day. The celebrations this year are themed Naya Bharat, which emphasises the nation’s progress towards the government’s goal of Viksit Bharat by 2047.

Across India, the evening of August 14 saw an impressive display of patriotic illumination. From Delhi to Bengaluru, India Post buildings shone brightly in the colours of the national flag.

The University of Hyderabad shared striking images of its administration building bathed in tricolour lights, noting, “The tricolour lights symbolize our pride, unity, and freedom. Let’s celebrate the spirit of independence together!”

In Bengaluru, aerial shots captured the Vidhan Soudha glowing against the night sky, while in Bhubaneswar, prominent government offices joined in the vibrant display.

Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport embraced the occasion with an elaborate tricolour décor, and Lucknow’s streets and landmarks mirrored the same festive spirit, wrapping the city in patriotic hues.
