After postponing their wedding, music composer Palaash Muchhal and cricketer Smriti Mandhana recently announced that they have called it off. Following his public statement, Palaash deleted his proposal video from Instagram. It has also been reported that the two have unfollowed each other on the platform.

Palaash had earlier shared a proposal video that had gone viral. He has now deleted the video along with the World Cup victory celebration clip featuring Smriti. However, other posts featuring Smriti still remain on Palaash’s account.

Immediately after the wedding with Palaash Muchhal was postponed, Smriti Mandhana had removed all photos and videos related to the engagement and pre-wedding festivities. It is also to be noted that Smriti’s teammates had also deleted pre-wedding posts from the wedding celebration.

Smriti Mandhana and Palash Muchhal were scheduled to get married on November 23 after days of pre-wedding festivities, where both families were seen celebrating and dancing together. But on the day of the ceremony, Smriti’s father suddenly fell ill and had to be hospitalised. Shortly after, Palash too was admitted to a hospital. When Palash and his family returned to Mumbai from Sangli, where the wedding was supposed to take place, rumours began circulating on social media and online forums alleging that the music composer had been unfaithful. Smriti deleting her wedding posts, further fuelled such rumours.

The couple, however, on December 7 declared that they have called off the wedding. In her note, Smriti expressed her wish to move forward and wrote, “Over the past few weeks there has been plenty of speculation around my life and I feel it is important for me to speak out at this time. I am a very private person and I would like to keep it that way but I need to clarify that the wedding is called off. I would like to close this matter here and implore all of you to do the sane. I request you to please respect the privacy of both families at this time and allow us the space to process and move on at our own pace.”

She concluded, “I believe there is a higher purpose driving us all and for me that has always been representing my country at the highest level. I hope to continue to play and win trophies for India for as long as possible and that is where my focus will forever be. Thank you for all your support. It’s time to move forward.”
