The person firmly holds onto the door but gets swayed by the strong wind and is seen unable to close it. The objects inside the room are also seen moving in the wind. The person recording the video is seen extending arms while the other person tries to reach out.
“Typical workday in Antarctica. 47th Polish Antarctic Expedition. King George Island,” read the caption of the clip. Since being shared on May 8, the clip has amassed more than 24.1 million views on Instagram. Instagram users were left baffled and many assumed it was a train. A user commented, “I thought it was a train.” Another user wrote, “Wait…. So this isn’t a moving train?” A third user commented, “Then you closed the door or no? Іt really bothers me.”
When a user asked Kurczaba if he helped the person, he replied in roughly translated Polish,” she almost went to the ocean but saved.”
The Guardian report said King George Island is one of the most frenetic spots on the Antarctic peninsula where weather conditions change rapidly within minutes.
