A thief’s embarrassing fail has been caught on a CCTV camera of a liquor store in Perth, Australia. The footage shows a guy casually browsing the store and picking up a stack of liquor and walking towards the counter. However, instead of paying for the goods, he immediately dashes towards the door but fails to open the store’s automatic lock doors which appeared to have been controlled by the cashier. The man realises that there is no escaping and puts the bottles on the counter and leaves the store as the cashier opens the door for him. The man’s face is also captured in the CCTV footage as he is not wearing any mask. A video of this theft failure was shared by Bottle-O Beechboro Cellars on their Facebook page. While sharing the clip, the liquor store wrote, “Does anyone know this guy? Police report number #060623113162815”. This video has since gone viral across social media platforms. Commenting on it, a Facebook user wrote, “How embarrassing for him, imagine her being like “Sir please put the drinks down, you can’t get out until you put them down” and he’s like oh sh*t ok fine.” Many people also remarked that the shop attendant or the cashier could have landed in a precarious situation had the guy been armed or violent. Raising this concern, a Facebook user wrote, “Thats NOT a smart thing on the part of the shop assistant. Honey you likely dont get paid enough to lock yourself into a shop (seemingly alone) with a thief. Nothing is worth your safety he is on camera let him go.”
