Vaa Vaathiyaar Movie Review LIVE Updates: Karthi announces the film's release.Vaa Vaathiyaar Movie Review and Release Live Updates: Karthi’s upcoming film Vaa Vaathiyaar is all set to hit the screens on January 14, Wednesday, on the occasion of Pongal. The film also stars Krithi Shetty in the lead role, while Sathyaraj, Rajkiran, Anandaraj, Shilpa Manjunath, Karunakaran, G. M. Sundar, Ramesh Thilak, Nivas Adithan and P. L. Thenappan play supporting roles in the film. Vaa Vaathiyaar is written and directed by Nalan Kumarasamy.
In an old interaction with PTI, Karthi had revealed that he had almost said ‘no’ to doing the film Vaa Vaathiyaar. He admitted that the role initially left him anxious. “Just thinking about it made me sleepless at nights. The thought that I might offend MGR’s hardcore fans by my acting made me scared. But then, I also know that growth comes when we face our fears. So, one day, I called Nalan (Kumarasamy) and said, ‘I am taking up your offer,'” he had said.

Vaa Vaathiyaar has also been facing several delays due to legal and financial issues. Earlier, the Madras High Court had issued a stay on the film after noting unpaid dues worth Rs 21 crore by the producer of Vaa Vaathiyaar. The court had ordered a stay on the film, following which its release was postponed multiple times. The film will finally release on Wednesday.
The movie will face stiff competition at the box office from Prabhas’ The Raja Saab, Chiranjeevi and Nayanthara’s Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu, and Sivakarthikeyan’s Parasakthi. While Parasakthi is struggling to hold audience interest, The Raja Saab and Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu are performing well at the box office. The film, however, will benefit from postponement Vijay-starrer Jana Nayagan.
Vaa Vaathiyaar is produced by K. E. Gnanavel Raja under the Studio Green banner. The film has music composed by Santhosh Narayanan, cinematography handled by George C. Williams and editing by Vetre Krishnan.

Despite a few minor flaws, the crisp runtime and Karthi’s intensity make it a highly engaging watch. It’s definitely above the average. Win."
X user @pudiharicharan shared Vaa Vaathiyaar review, "#vaavaathiyaar - 3.75 stars. Nalan’s film largely works due to its simplistic storytelling which pays a lovely, entertaining tribute to the MGR era movies. The superhero, alter-ego angle adds a lot of novelty in an otherwise typical masala entertainer. @Karthi_Offl makes the character so much fun. Refreshing watch overall."
X page LetsCinema shared Karthi's Vaa Vaathiyaar review, "#vaavaathiyaar Review: The film starts slow but hits its peak with an unexpected banger interval block. Nalan Kumarasamy’s fresh staging and the MGR-inspired touches land perfectly. Karthi delivers a towering, terrific performance. While a stronger villain was missing, the tight runtime makes it a good watch. A perfect Pongal entertainer!"
X user @roflkanth shared, "Personally, Parasakthi is very good, while Vaa Vaathiyaar is decent. Content-wise, Parasakthi has a slight edge, but Vaa Vaathiyaar scores higher in terms of engagement and commercial mass moments. For the general audience, Vaa Vaathiyaar is likely to connect better. And during clash times, Karthi usually delivers."

@OnlyKollywood posted Karthi's Vaa Vaathiyaar review on X, "At the halfway mark, #vaavaathiyaar holds attention with its retro setting, Nalan’s political-quirky elements, and @Karthi_Offl’s restrained performance as a corrupt cop. The MGR fantasy layer has just begun, setting the stage for an explosive second half. Good going."
X user @vignzkan, "For me personally, #parasakthi was above average & #vaavaathiyaar is decent. But Vaa Vaathiyar will work better for the general audience due to the engaging quotient and the commercial angle. Expecting the movie to be decent in BO. Karthi mostly delivers when it is a clash."
