Reza Pahlavi on Iran protest: Exiled Crown Prince, Reza Pahlavi, Wednesday urged Iranians to “continue the fight” while reiterating United States President Donald Trump’s message from a day earlier, “help is on the way.” “Do not allow this regime to create the illusion that life is normal,” Pahlavi wrote over a post on X. Trump had announced he was cutting off the prospect of talks with Iranian officials. He called on the Iranian government to “show humanity” to the protesters as the death toll in nationwide crackdown rose to 2,571 in the country, news agency AP reported. The US president said he believes that the killing is “significant” and that his administration would “act accordingly.”

Execution of protester: Meanwhile, Iran is set to carry out the first execution in connection with the ongoing anti-government protests that have entered their third week. According to exiled activists and human rights groups in Iran, Erfan Soltani, a protester who was arrested last week, could be executed as early as Wednesday. According to Iran Human Rights, 26-year-old Soltani was arrested in the city of Fardis, in Karaj district of Iran’s Alborz province, on January 8 for participating in the ongoing protests.
