The film digs deep into Singh’s and Bhaiya’s psyches. Who dons a mask and who emerges a winner form the crux of the plot. The film is Anurag Kashyap’s first full-fledged role. The director made cameo appearances in I Am,Tera Kya Hoga Johny,Luck By Chance and Black Friday.

The buzz

*Nana Patekar’s character in the film has been modelled on real-life encounter specialist, late Rajbir Singh, with a record 56 encounter killings to his credit. Anurag Kashyap, who had been fortunate to meet Singh, helped Nana get into the skin of his character.

* It was director Tigmanshu Dhulia’s decision to get good friend Anurag Kashyap to act in Shagird. In return,Anurag asked Tigmanshu to act in his forthcoming film Gangs Of Wasseypur.
