Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee worked past midnight at Writers Buildings on Friday,holding a series of meetings,walking into the chambers of ministers,the rooms of their private secretaries,and what used to be Buddhadeb Bhattacharjees CMO. The spaces are so small and unhygeinic. There is such lack of infrastructure. How can one work in such conditions, she said. All these have to change.
The government of Ma Mati Manush,she said,would work beyond regular hours. I want to work hard and deliver results fast.
Delegations from the IAS officers association to various employee organisations called on her. So did DMs and police officers from several districts.
After his delegations meeting with Banerjee,Debasish Sen,a principal secretary to the government,said,She told us that she wanted jobs to be finished fast.
All secretaries and other senior officials have been asked to report to work on Saturday. Cabinet meetings will now be held fortnightly,instead of once a month. The land and land reforms department officials were holding meetings late into the night to find a way to implement the decision to return 400 acres of land in Singur.
