In our democracy, they have a right to do so. I don't think anyone has felt that these protests are getting out of hand. There has been no violence, no lynching and certainly any attempted violence will and should be clamped down upon by our police. What we want to see is for the Bangladeshis to do the same thing."

"They must curb the violence. There's not enough for the government of Bangladesh to just express regrets or condemnation. They have to take action because controlling the violence on the streets is their obligation as a government. They need to curb this violence. They need to ensure that the streets are calm again, that people can feel safe again. How can you have an election in less than two months' time in an atmosphere of lawlessness and intimidation, where the voters may not even feel safe? Bangladesh Hindu lynching protests LIVE updates: India summons Dhaka envoy amid growing unrest

Amid the widespread protests in India over the lynching of a Hindu man, Dipu Chandra Das, over blasphemy allegations, India on Tuesday summoned Bangladeshi envoy Riaz Hamidullah and sought a detailed probe into the assassination of Bangladeshi student leader and election probable Sharif Osman Hadi. The relations between the two neighbours has been on a rapid decline since the assassination and subsequent anti-India protests in Dhaka and nearby regions.

The summons to Hamidullah was sent just hours after New Delhi’s envoy in Dhaka, Pranay Verma, was called to Bangladesh’s foreign ministry, where officials conveyed their protest over what they described as “regrettable incidents” near the Bangladesh High Commission in the Indian capital. Verma was urged to ensure the safety of Bangladeshi officials in India.

Protests have been taking place outside the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi following the recent lynching of a Hindu worker in the violence-hit neighbouring country, further straining diplomatic ties. Apart from Delhi, protests are being staged in Bengal, Jammu and Kashmir, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Maharashtra.

VHP, Bajrang Dal, BJP, Congress, and other organisations are protesting what they called "atrocities on Hindus".
