Despite facing years of US sanctions, Huawei continues to rank among the world’s most innovative technology companies. The Chinese firm has now made a surprising push into the ultra-luxury car market, overtaking the Porsche Panamera, one of China’s longtime best-selling high-end sedans.

Since its launch in May this year, the Huawei Maextro S800 has consistently outsold Porsche’s flagship luxury model in China. According to a Bloomberg report citing data from ECC Intelligence, Huawei dealerships nationwide have sold more Maextro S800 units than the BMW 7 Series, underscoring the strong demand for the company’s premium electric sedan.

Rivalling the likes of Rolls-Royce and Bentley, the Huawei Maextro S800 starts from 708,000 yuan (approx Rs 90.4 lakh), with the most premium version priced at 1.02 million yuan (approx. 1 crore 30 lakh). With this, Huawei has finally managed to capture one of the few remaining areas where Chinese car manufacturers had struggled against foreign brands like BMW,  Mercedes-Benz and Porsche.

Huawei, one of the most prominent tech companies in China, has successfully established itself as a major player in the Chinese automobile market by collaborating with local carmakers.

The tech giant typically offers its high-end technology, such as driving assistance, and a large sales network, while local companies are responsible for manufacturing the vehicle. In the case of the Maextro S800, the vehicle is being produced by the Anhui Jianghuai Automobile Group Corp.
