Lying a bit low after the Maharajganj bypoll drubbing, the JDU is unlikely to react drastically and severe ties with the BJP if Narendra Modi is made campaign committee head at the BJP national executive in Goa.
The party will stick to its stand that BJP would decide the NDA PM candidate well before year-end. Sources close to CM Nitish Kumar, however, clarified the deadline did not mean December. It could be October-end or November if there is too much Modi by then. If Modi is invited to BJPs Patna Hunkar rally in October,we may show a sense of urgency to clear ambiguity on NDA PM candidate choice, said a close Nitish aide.
The JDU hopes BJPs internal feud would help address its concerns over Modi.
If Narendra Modi is facing so much resistance over being made campaign panel head, there is little chance of him being made NDAs PM candidate. Heads of BJP campaign committee in last two Lok Sabha elections were not PM candidates after all, the aide said.
