The BJP on Monday termed Suresh Kalmadis arrest as a step rightly taken, but in a belated manner. While the partys national spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad said in Lucknow that Kalmadis arrest does not end the probe into the Commonwealth Games scam and further high-level probe should be conducted, party president Nitin Gadkari said in Mumbai that the arrest of former CWG organising committee chairman was the tip of the iceberg and demanded action against others involved in the scam.
Prasad, who addressed the media at party headquarters in Lucknow, said. The arrest of Kalmadi in the CWG scam is a step rightly taken, but in a belated manner. He should be subjected to custodial interrogation to further probe into the scam. But one should realise that the scams do not end with his arrest. He said a high-level committee, which can have the Prime Minister as its head, should be formed to investigate these scams. There are scams such as construction of the stadiums, purchase of material and other irregularities which also need to be probed and a chargesheet with concrete evidences should be filed in these cases, he said.

Addressing the media in Mumbai,Gadkari said,Kalmadis arrest in the CWG scam is the tip of the iceberg. He pointed out that of the Rs 76,000 crore spent on the CWG,the OC had spent Rs 1,250 crore, with the rest of the money being sanctioned by the Group of Ministers,Cabinet sub-committee and others. Terming Kalmadis arrest as an eyewash,Gadkari sought action by the CBI against the rest of the people involved. Kalmadi is to be blamed and the action taken against him is correct. But how can those who gave Kalmadi the authority be innocent? questioned Gadkari, charging that Kalmadi had not spent even a rupee without Cabinet approvals. He added that of the seven meetings held regarding the CWG,Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had presided over two.
The BJP also demanded the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit and sought action against all those who have been indicted by the PM-appointed V K Shunglu Committee.
