Ban on proposed Rajasthan govt employees rally

JAIPUR: The Rajasthan government has imposed a ban on a proposed rally by a fraction of the state government employees demanding reservation in promotions. The rally was due on Friday. Heads of all the departments have been directed to ensure a full attendance of all the employees on Friday,an official said. No employee will be sent on field duty and their attendance will be re-checked between 2:00 pm and 3:00 pm. Stern action will be taken against the employees if found absent,he said.

Wayanad tusker radio-collared

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A rogue elephant regularly ravaging farms in forest-fringe villages of Keralas Wayanad district has been radio-collared by Wildlife officials to monitor its movements. It is for the first time that a wild elephant has been fixed with a radio collar telemeter in Kerala,which will send signals. The 40-year old tusker has been a regular crop raider in Sulthan Bathery area of Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary,Wildlife officials said.

6 prisoners escape from jail in Raj

JAIPUR: Six prisoners fled from a jail in Rajasthans Nagaur district in the wee hours on Thursday,police said. The prisoners,lodged in the jail at Didwana town,managed to escape after cutting the rods of their cell,they said. The six were identified as Surendra Rajput,Jagdish Bawri,Kailash Raigar,Ramesh Jat and Vinod Kumar Meena,police said.

Inter-state prostitution racket busted

BANGALORE: City Crime Branch sleuths have busted an inter-state prostitution racket and arrested one person besides rescuing 10 women,police said on Thursday. During a raid conducted on a lodge at Upparpet,a CCB team nabbed one Prakash Heggade 36 who allegedly used to lure poor women from Punjab,Kolkata,Mumbai,Bhopal and Varanasi into the racket with promise of big money,sources said.
