Revised rates for licences
The district collector, in a statement issued on Thursday, listed down the revised rates for obtaining permits and deposits for producers, commission agents, wholesale dealers, and retail licences as per a state government directive. The new deposit rates for producers will be Rs 15,000, Rs 10,000 for wholesale permits, Rs 5000 for retail licences and Rs 500 for hawkers.

Similarly, the revised rates for obtaining new licences for producers has been fixed at Rs 1000, for wholesalers and commission agents at Rs 500, for retailers at Rs 200 and Rs 100 for hawkers. The statement has asked all those who have not paid the increased rates to pay the balance amount at the earliest.

2-day workshop
City-based Centre for Communications has organised an orientation workshop on December 19 and 20. The workshop will include English teaching, guidance on careers and business and will be held from 8 to 9:30 am and from 7:30 to 9 pm at 9, Radhe Nagar Society, Parle Point. Dr Amarendra Jha will conduct the workshop, according to a statement.

Ramzan moon

Competition
A competition, aimed at creating awareness among people about the ill-effects of alcohol was held by the Surat division of the prohibition and excise department at Vanita Vishram Training College recently. A number of students took part in the speech and drawing contests. Winners were given prizes by department officer R K Desai and college principal Dahiben Patel.
