Sporting Clube De Goa stormed into the quarterfinals of the Federation Cup with a thumping 4-0 win over Army XI at the Yuba Bharati Krirangan here today.

The hundred-odd spectators, who turned up at the Stadium, had barely taken their seats when Ernest Jeremiah stunned the army men with a strike in the 20th second of the match.

A three-touch move just seconds into the match as Nicholau Borges sent a precious back-heal right in the front of the box to an advancing Jeremiah who controlled it and bulged into the box through a 10-yard incisive run down the middle to unleash a solid right-footer that had the goalkeeper confused.

Harmanjit Singh Khabra struck twice and Borges sealed Army8217;s fate by scoring the fourth and the final goal for the winners. Khabra8217;s first goal, struck in the 30th minute, was the result of another two-touch move in the attacking-third. Jeremiah sent an accurate center from the extreme left. Borges, who was watching from the top box, flicked it to the extreme right for the advancing Khabra who tapped it in.

The Tata Football Academy midfielder struck again in the 37th minute.

Army XI looked rattled by Sporting Clube8217;s attacking brand of game. The Goan outfit displayed an excellent passing game and off-the-ball-play in the preparatory zone.

Result: Sporting Clube de Goa 4, Army XI 0.
