
PUNE, Sept 4: The Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth, Rahuri and the Indian Council of Agricultural Research will organise a seminar of all-India co-ordinated research project on chickpea at the National Chemical Laboratory here on September 10.
The seminar will be attended by 125 delegates from ICAR research units and universities. MPKV Vice-Chancellor Y.S. Nerkar will be the chief guest and ICAR Director General R.S. Paroda will preside over the function.
Addressing a press conference today, Nerker said the seminar would discuss the latest developments in the research programmes to develop disease resistant varieties of chickpea.
He said a new molecular laboratory would be set up Rahuri in two years as part of MPKV8217;s research project with NCL. It will use DNA finger printing technology to develop disease-resistant chickpea varieties.
