Ahead of the proposed visit of the President of India, the Jalandhar district administration has tightened security arrangements and declared the entire district a no-flying zone for two days.

According to the administration, President Droupadi Murmu is scheduled to visit Jalandhar on January 16. To prevent any security lapse, the restrictions will remain in force from January 15 to January 16.

The order has been issued under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023. Under the order, the operation of all civil drones, remotely or pilot-operated aircraft systems, paragliders, hot air balloons and helicopters has been prohibited within the limits of Jalandhar district.

However, official helicopters and aircraft used by the President and other VVIPs have been exempted from the ban. The administration said the decision was taken on the recommendation of security agencies.

The district administration, police and other security agencies will remain on high alert, with strict surveillance across the district during the restricted period.

Warning of strict action against violators, the administration said any drone or flying device found in use would be seized and the concerned individual booked under relevant legal provisions.

The administration said the measures were aimed at ensuring peace, maintaining law and order, and safeguarding public security during the President’s visit.
