NEW DELHI, February 2: The Delhi Soccer Association (DSA) will hold open trials-cum-coaching camp to select team for participation in the senior nationals football championship for Santosh Trophy being held in March at Chennai. The trials will be held from Thursday between 2.30 p.m. and 5.00 p.m. at PGDAV College, Srinivaspuri, here. Those interested have been requested to report to O P Malhotra, N K Bhatia (chairman and convener) or Joginder Singh (coach).
In order to give warm-up exercise before participating in the said nationals, the association will send the selected team to two reputed tournaments being held at Vir Ganj in Nepal and Jalandhar in the second week of February.
Meanwhile, the Delhi Soccer Association (DSA) has constituted a selection committee comprising O P Malhotra (chairman), N K Bhatia (convener), B S Chauhan, Hem Chand and Abdul Aziz (members) and Joginder Singh (coach).
Sahara in semis
Jaspal Singh’s all-round display (67: 5×4, 106b; 1 for 25) and Surinder Damya’s fine spell of bowling (4 for 37) helped Sahara India beat Dena Bank by five wickets to enter the semi-finals of ninth BDM Challenge Cup at Ramjas sports complex here today. Jaspal Singh was declared the man of the match.
