Jeb Bush,a former governor of Florida and the younger brother and son of former presidents,has been one of the Republican Partys most outspoken voices on the importance of Hispanic outreach. In his new book,Immigration Wars,Bush and his co-author outline a plan that would offer those already in the US illegally a way to stay here as permanent legal residents. In ruling out a special path to citizenship,Bush seems to moving closer to a group of Republicans who have expressed openness to a permanent legal status as a form of compromise.

Mayor Michael R Bloombergs new sugary drink rules are set to come between a harried,half-awake New Yorker and a morning cup of joe come Tuesday,when his ban on the sale of large sugary drinks goes into effect after months of public debate. However,while its impact on beverages like soda will be clear no more jumbo colascoffee drinkers face a thicket of complications. The regulations hinge on delicate calculations about milk,calorie and sugar ratios. Coffee cups 16 ounces or less are unaffected. But unlike sodas,which will max out at 16 ounces,cups of coffee larger than 16 ounces can still be served as long as the barista adds no more than three to five packets of sugar. Customers,however,can add as much extra sugar as they want later.

Steven Tyler Act

The Hawaii Senate passed the so-called Steven Tyler Act,a Bill that seeks to protect celebrities from paparazzi by considering it a civil violation if people take unwanted photos or videos of others in their private moments. The Aerosmith frontman asked Senator Kalani English to sponsor the legislation after unwanted photos of him and his girlfriend were published in a magazine. Twenty-three of the states 25 Senate members voted for the Bill,which now goes to the House. Other celebrities have supported the Bill,including Britney Spears and the Osbornes.
