Vibrant Gujarat regional summit | Govt: MoUs for 5,492 projects with investment target of over Rs 5.78 lakh cr signed

IN THE recently concluded Vibrant Gujarat Regional Summit (VGRC) for the Kutch-Saurashtra region, Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) for 5492 projects were signed with possible investment target of over Rs 5.78 lakh crore, said spokesperson of Gujarat government and senior minister Jitu Vaghani, on Friday. He added that these pacts could create over 6.26 lakh employment opportunities in the state.

The VGRC for Kutch-Saurashtra region was organised at Marwadi University in Rajkot on January 11-12. It was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Quoting Vaghani, a release stated that during the summit, MoUs were signed for a total of 5,492 projects with investment potential of Rs 5,78,330 crore. Of these, the maximum MoUs – for 458 projects for investment of Rs 1,25,017 crore – were signed for Kutch district.

For Bhavnagar, MoUs for 306 projects were signed with a possibility of Rs 60,000 crore investment.

For Amreli district, MoUs for 62 projects were signed with investment of Rs 36,000 crore. Whereas, for Rajkot district, MoUS were signed for 2,921 projects with investment of Rs 23,000 crore.

The release added that a majority of the MoUs, worth over Rs 4.55 lakh crore, were signed in the power, oil and gas sectors.
