
CHANDIGARH, Aug 19: The arrest of the president of North India Stock Exchange, Mukesh Nischal, was stayed till August 25 by UT Additional District and Sessions Judge G S Sandhu in an assault and trespass case, here today.
He was booked by the Chandigarh Police on August 13 under Section 448, 380 and 323 of the Indian Penal Code. According to the prosecution, he had allegedly assaulted a member of the stock exchange, Rajiv Trehan. Seeking anticipatory bail for the accused, the defence counsel stated that Nischal was being falsely implicated in the case at Trehan and another member, Rakesh Kumar Sharma8217;s bidding.
The case was filed against the president with a motive to take revenge, the counsel stated. Trehan had sustained injuries while breaking the window panes of Nischal8217;s office, he added. He had threatened the accused earlier also as Nischal, being the president, had filed a complaint against him and Sharma for 8220;forcibly8221; taking the possession of a wooden cabin alotted to some other member.
Meanwhile, the prosecution sought time for collecting evidence against the accused, following which the arguments on the application were adjourned.
