LUCKNOW: Heavy rain triggered fresh landslides and washed away a foot-track made by the Army in Malpa, hampering the ongoing relief work, Maj Gen Mukherji in charge of the operation at central command said today.
The hostile weather conditions since last night had affected the rescue work and the army jawans were now trying to repair the damaged track, he said.
Altogether 40 bodies had been extricated from the debris and brought to Dharchula. Eight of them were of pilgrims. The bodies were being cremated there itself, he said.
