NEW DELHI, NOV 12: Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee today rejected the West Bengal Congress plea for her return to the fold saying her party was the quot;real Congressquot;.

Reacting to a statement of WBPCC working president P R Dasmunshi inviting those who had left Congress to return to it, she told reporters here that if Congress was serious about fighting the CPIM it should join the real Congress headed by her.

The statement of Banerjee, now an ally of BJP, came shortly after the Congress spokesman Mani Shankar Aiyar seemed to approve Dasmunshi8217;s statement by saying that the WBPCC Working President had made the statement with a quot;full sense of responsibilityquot;.

She had a dig at the state Congressmen saying quot;they cannot even file proper nominations and ask everyone to fight the BJP. They had criticised me when I said BJP cannot be considered untouchablequot;.

On her attending a meeting of Loktantrik Congress in Lucknow yesterday, the Trinamool leader said she was trying to form a joint platform withall those who had left Congress and had floated new parties. She said she would visit Imphal in december to attend the first anniversary of Manipur Congress.
