Yana also spoke about how the environment had helped her kids grow into more adaptable and open individuals
A Russian woman living in Bengaluru has shared an emotional note explaining why India became more than just a travel stop for her family; it became home. In a thoughtful Instagram post, content creator Yana wrote about choosing to build a life in India with her husband and children, embracing everyday routines rather than a temporary stay.
“We are a Russian family who chose to live in India, not as tourists, not just for a short stay, but truly live here,” she wrote, describing a life filled with homes, schools, markets, and ordinary days that slowly turned extraordinary.
Reflecting on how India reshaped their mindset, Yana wrote, “India taught us to slow down. Life here doesn’t rush you.” She explained that the rhythm of daily life encouraged her family to tune inward, away from constant pressure and noise.
What stood out most to her was the warmth of people. “We love India for its people, their openness, kindness, and willingness to help without expecting anything in return,” she wrote, adding how neighbours, shopkeepers, and strangers often made them feel seen and welcome.

Yana also spoke about raising children in India, saying the environment had helped them grow into more adaptable and open individuals. “Growing up here makes them adaptable, observant, and open-minded,” she wrote, highlighting how living in a multicultural and multilingual setting naturally teaches respect, patience, and appreciation for life’s smaller joys.
The family has also embraced what she calls a simpler, more meaningful way of living, less excess, more presence. From enjoying fresh fruits year-round to spending unhurried time together, she said the warmth of both the climate and community has enriched their lives.
Acknowledging that life in India comes with its own challenges, Yana didn’t romanticise the experience entirely. “India is not always easy. It can be noisy, chaotic, and unfamiliar,” she admitted. Yet it was in this very chaos that the family felt most alive. “It is here that we truly felt we were living, not just following a schedule.”
Her video struck a chord online, drawing heartfelt reactions from viewers. Many flooded the comments section with hearts and fire emojis, while others shared thoughtful messages. An Instagram user wrote, “Good to know that you guys love our country… if you’re positive and know how to deal with challenges, then good for you guys. Good wishes to you all from an Indian.” Another summed it up simply, calling it “a unique confluence of cultures of two great countries, Russia and India.”
