
NEW DELHI, FEBRUARY 13: Inflation rate plummeted to 2.88 per cent for the week ended January 29, after a three-week spell over the three per cent mark, following a sharp fall in prices of major food articles.
The 0.43 percentage fall in the annual rate of inflation to 2.88 per cent provisional from 3.31 per cent P in the previous week was triggered off by a 0.2 per cent fall in the index of primary articles. Inflation was, however, way higher at 4.82 per cent during the corresponding week last year. Inflation had risen to a 32-week high of 3.31 per cent for the week ended January 22 due to perceptible increase in prices of primary articles.
The wholesale price index for all commodities8217; base:1981-82=100 for the week ended January 29, dropped marginally to 364.9 provisional.
