Here8217;s the latest on the debate over whether alcohol should served on flights. At the Consultative Committee8217;s meeting with the Ministry of Civil Aviation this past week, an MP demanded to know what had happened to the suggestions made by his colleagues to allow harmless beers and wines on board. The ministry, it is learnt, replied that the matter was under serious consideration as even the International Air Transport Association had pleaded for international norms and standards on inflight drinks. The ministry is, however, interested in MP Rajeev Shukla8217;s view. Shukla said grape farmers from Maharashtra had met him and requested him to ensure that Indians wines were served on flights. Votaries for wine include MP Tarlochan Singh and Dr M S Gill.
