Govt decision on disabled welcomed
The All India Confederation of the Blind AICB has welcomed the recent government decision to double the salary of those working for the disabled in the voluntary sector. This decision would benefit 25,000 people working in about 2,000 voluntary organisations for the disabled, an AICB official said here on Saturday.
But even this revision has a number of anomalies as the Union Welfare ministry had designated remuneration payable to employees working for NGOs as 8220;honorarium8221; and not salaries, the AICB press release stated.
Moreover, it prescribed higher honorarium for a sweeper vis-a-vis a qualified music teacher, the release added.
