
BONN, APR 16: World8217;s top automaker Daimler-Chrysler has rejected outright findings of the European Commission EC that it violated European Union8217;s EU anti-trust rules regarding sale of its Mercedes cars in the continent and decided to legally challenge any decision to penalise the company.
Describing the charges as unjustified, Daimler-Benz statement said the commission8217;s findings or quot;the statement of objectionsquot; does not contain any substantial evidence of violation of the rules governing competition.
The German-American automaker said that if the EU8217;s executive body were to decide against Daimler-Chrysler, it would challenge such a decision with all the legal means at its disposal. The carmaker has been accused of breaking EU8217;s anti-trust rules by the commission8217;s cartel office by preventing its exclusive dealer networks in Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium and Spain from selling Mercedes passenger cars to non-residents. The statement said the charges are 8221;basically directed8221; against the legalstructures of the company8217;s sales organisation.
