
Two friends on their way to work, were crushed to death after a Blueline bus hit their bike at Bhairon Marg in New Delhi district. Police officials said the incident was reported at 10.45 am on Monday. Blueline buses have claimed 113 lives this year including the latest victims Deepak Joshi 26 and Rajesh Yadav 23.
Police said that Joshi and Yadav were software engineers. They were going to their office, TrilSoft, in Rajendran Park area on their Hero Honda CBZ bike. Joshi lived in New Ashok Nagar while Yadav was a resident of Noida.
8220;The bus, plying on route GL-32 Karampura Terminal to Noida Sector 34, was speeding and could not apply brakes in time as it tried to overtake the bike, hitting the bike from behind. Joshi was crushed under the front wheels, while Yadav was thrown to the other side, headfirst on the road,8221; a senior police official said.
A passerby informed the PCR about the incident. Police rushed the duo to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital where Joshi was declared brought dead, while Yadav succumbed to injuries.
The bus driver Mohammed Akhtar 49 tried to flee but locals caught him and handed him over to police.
Joshi8217;s father, Naveen Chand Joshi, said the family was looking at marriage proposals for him.
8220;My family told me about the accident. I could not believe it, as I had seen him leave for office in the morning, fit and fine. He was a very responsible son,8221; he said.
Yadav lived alone at his rented apartment in Noida. He hailed from Amethi in Uttar Pradesh.
8 school children injured
In a separate incident at least eight school children suffered injuries when a tempo they were travelling in turned turtle in Badli area of Outer district. According to the police, the incident took place on Monday around 8.15 in the Kheda village of Badli area when around 15 students of a government school climbed got into a running tempo heading towards their school. After travelling some distance, the vehicle overturned when its driver attempted to avoid a collision with a motorcyclist and at least eight of them suffered injuries.
