NEW DELHI, JANUARY 21: Bengal stormed into the quarter-final of the 34th National Junior (under-19) Football Championship for Dr B.C. Roy Trophy defeating Tamil Nadu by a solitary goal at Imphal today.

According to information, winger Dipankar Chatterjee fired the only goal when his blockbuster banged in sealing the fate of Tamil Nadu.

Bengal was placed in Group Q with Assam, last year’s runners-up, in the quarter-finals. Host Manipur also entered the quarter-finals trouncing lowly placed Pondicherry 5-0. Other teams, which reached the quarter-finals stage, were Sikkim, Orissa and Kerala.

Meghalaya would take on Goa in their last campaign in Group D pre-quarter final league round tomorrow. Bihar, last year’s champion, was placed in group P of quarter-final league round.
