ARTRAC meet on modernisation

SHIMLA, Nov 12: Shimla-based Army Training Command ARTRAC has started a major exercise to identify core areas for accelerating the process of modernisation of the armed forces by involving eminent defence analysts and economic experts. A two-day conference on the subject began here this morning with defence analyst Air Commodore Jasjit Singh addressing the opening session.

A release of the PIB8217;s defence wing said here that besides senior officers of the ARTRAC the conference was also being attended by member PM8217;s consultative group on economic affairs Ashok Desai and Prem Shankar Jha.

The conference would discuss economic strategies for the modernisation of the forces and would also analyse the impact of the existing economic policies on national security.
