In conversation with Times of India, Aadar and Alekha revealed that they were desk partners in school. In the sixth grade, Alekha tried to copy answers from the boy sitting next to her, and 20 years later, she ended up marrying him. “She’s the first girl I ever liked, she’s my first crush,” said Aadar.

The couple shared how their coming together was a stroke of luck, despite being in each other’s periphery all throughout life. As childhood friends, they were in close proximity to each other’s family, but always as best friends and never as companions. “Love happened to us very unexpectedly, but most beautifully and organically,” they said.

Aadar revealed, “We have always known each other. She has always been my go-to person for anything and everything. She knows every little detail about me and my life. Our values, our morals, and the way we look at life all align. I just knew immediately that this was the person I wanted to marry. I want to be with her. We were both single out of long-term relationships, not looking for love, and we just met, and it’s so beautiful and organically happened like that.”

“Love happens when you least expect it. We reconnected at a time when we were not looking for love,” he added. Aadar also shared that their family go back almost 45 years, and their mothers have known each other for decades. “It’s amazing that you get to marry your best friend,” he said, with Alekha adding that being married to him feels like “one big sleepover”.
