An Australian creator living in India has sparked a lively online debate after sharing his honest take on the long-running Delhi vs Mumbai comparison.

Andy Evans, better known as ‘theaussiebhai’ on Instagram, recently posted a video titled “I like Mumbai, but…” in which he explained why, despite liking Mumbai, he still leans toward Delhi. Having spent more time in the capital, he said one major difference stands out: the spirit of jugaad.

According to Evans, Mumbai doesn’t quite match Delhi’s flexible, get-things-done attitude. In the clip, he says, “Two hundred rupees in Delhi? Anyone will do anything for you… you can have a bhaiya to help you with whatever you want in your house.” He added that this ease made everyday life much smoother for him.

Mumbai, he said, operates differently. People tend to stick to rules, boundaries and what they’ve been paid for. “Hey bhaiya, just for two hundred rupees extra, help me with this. Nahi. Nahi. Nahi,” he joked, describing how additional favours rarely work there.

Evans posted the video with the caption, “I miss that Delhi jugaad,” and it has already crossed eight lakh views on Instagram. The comments section is full of mixed reactions, some agreeing wholeheartedly, others defending Mumbai’s culture.

Watch the video:

One user wrote, “Mumbai people are much more trustworthy and simple as compared to delhi. And mumbai is super safe. And one can actually get a night life.”

Another user commented, “Mumbai is more strict. It’s like NYC everybody is on the goal and no one has time for anything or anyone else. However Mumbai is also much kinder and safer for women and the people are generally nicer. Hope you get to see the soft side of Mumbai.”

A third person added, “Delhi is more chill and easy …Mumbai is all formal.” A fourth individual wrote, “Jugaad works everywhere. Every city just has it’s own way of jugaad.”
