Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming everyday life, but it is also opening doors to new kinds of misuse. A recent viral post on X by @kapilansh_twt highlighted exactly that, after a Swiggy Instamart customer allegedly used AI to generate the image of a damaged product and claim a refund.

The post described how someone had ordered a tray of eggs through Instamart. One egg arrived cracked. Instead of simply reporting the issue, the customer decided to take it several steps further. “Someone ordered eggs on Instamart and only one came cracked. Instead of just reporting it, they opened Gemini Nano and literally typed: apply more cracks,” the post said.

Using Google’s Gemini Nano, the customer apparently asked the model to “Apply more cracks,” and within minutes had a hyper-realistic image showing an entire tray of broken eggs instead of just one. The AI-altered photo was then sent to Instamart’s support team.

According to screenshots shared in the post, the platform accepted the image as proof and immediately approved a refund of Rs 245. “Support took one look at the proof, processed a full refund, and moved on,” the post stated, underscoring how easily refund systems can be manipulated in the age of AI.

The incident sparked a flurry of reactions online. Some people were amused by the ingenuity, but many expressed concern. A user wrote, “What else can you expect from a low trust society? No wonder why everyone in the world hates us, even we hate our own.”

Another user commented, “This is why we can never be a developed nation where people leave goods on the road, buyers pick, keep money and leave.”

A third person added, “Just a low trust society , trying to scam a company bcz they feel they are entitled to refunds.”

A fourth user shared, “People have to understand that these Q ecommerce companies deduct money from the delivery partner whenever a customer files a complaint. And here this person made a false complaint. That’s so evil.”
