The bail pleas of the arrested accused were previously rejected by the special court and they remain in custody.
A special court framed charges against five accused arrested for firing outside actor Salman Khan’s Bandra home, who will face trial for offences including attempt to murder and relevant sections of the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act. Gangsters brothers Lawrence Bishnoi and Anmol Bishnoi have been named as wanted accused in the case, along with gang member Ravtaram Swami alias Ravi Godara.
Charges were framed against Vickykumar Gupta, Sagarkumar Pal, the alleged shooters; Sonukumar Bishnoi, Mohammed Rafiq Choudhari and Harpal Singh under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code, MCOCA and Maharashtra Police Act and Arms Act. They pleaded guilty, paving the way for the trial to begin.
On April 14, 2024, shots were fired by two bike-borne men outside the home of Khan’s Bandra residence Galaxy Apartments. The police had arrested Gupta and Pal, who were claimed to be the men on the bike. The others had roles including conducting a recce near the home, taking videos outside it and forwarding them to the other accused. One more arrested person Anujkumar Thapa had died allegedly by suicide while in police lock-up in May 2024.
Special Judge Mahesh K Jadhav framed charges against the accused. The police claim that the men were working on the instructions of Lawrence, as part of the crime syndicate headed by him, to create terror in the minds of the citizens of Mumbai for establishing the gang’s supremacy to later seek pecuniary gains. Lawrence is currently lodged in a jail in Sabarmati, Gujarat, while Anmol was brought to India from the United States last week and is currently in custody of the National Investigation Agency.
