At the music launch of her next film, Happy New Year that stars Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone in the lead, choreographer-turned-director Farah Khan was asked the reason for casting established actors in her films. About not casting newcomers, an amused Khan named all the new and young actors that she had cast in her films beginning with Main Hoon Na (Zayed Khan, Amrita Rao); Om Shanti Om (Deepika) etc. She also did not leave an opportunity to make a comment about actor Boman Irani, (Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi) who stars in her film, as she said, “Boman bhi naya hai!”
Her friend of many years, Shah Rukh Khan, quickly came to her rescue and said, “Kyun na kare yaar!” To which she candidly added, “Hongey newcomers tumhare paas (other film-makers), mere pass Shah Rukh Khan hai.”
