Shammi Thilakan shares details about his role in Dulquer Salmaan’s King of Kotha

Meanwhile, adding to the already growing excitement, actor Shammi Thilakan, who plays a pivotal role in the film, recently shared some details regarding the captivating world of King of Kotha. “I play the role of Kotha Ravi, who is the father of Dulquer’s character in the film. My portions were mainly shot in Rameswaram and Karaikudi. The story unfolds over several periods. I have two appearances in it. I shouldn’t reveal more details about the film at this time,” Shammi said during a conversation with Malayalam news portal The Fourth.

Stating that it was Joshiy himself who contacted him for King of Kotha, Shammi said, “Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working on numerous films with Joshiy sir. For the majority of these projects, it was the production managers who would initially approach me, requesting that I reach out to Joshiy directly. Knowing his phone number by heart, I would promptly make the call. This was the usual protocol, with the exception of just two films. I have never asked him what the story was or to show the script while working on any projects.”

“However, there were two exceptional occasions where it was Joshiy himself who reached out to me — for Praja (2001) and Paappan (2022). When Joshiy contacted me for Paappan, he informed me about Abhi’s (Abhilash Joshiy) upcoming film and emphasised that there was a remarkable role for me in it. He encouraged me to consider taking it up. Subsequently, he called me once again and narrated the character of Kotha Ravi. He simply said, ‘Just go and give them whatever you can.’ It was after this conversation that I went to listen to the story and script,” the actor recalled.

Asserting that Dulquer Salmaan is an amazing actor, Shammi Thilakan said, “King of Kotha will be a high-octane film with a strong emphasis on action. Not every movie or director manages to pique my interest, but Abhilash’s distinctive approach to filmmaking and his captivating narrative will excite everyone. Brace yourself for a thrilling experience filled with enthralling moments, excitement, and surprises that King of Kotha has to offer.”

Earlier this year, Dulquer had stated that this was the most physically challenging film he had done in a long time.
