The Himesh Reshammiya-starrer Badass Ravikumar, which was released in theatres on February 7, made headlines for out-performing the far more mainstream romantic comedy Loveyapa. The film also stars actor Kirti Kulhari, and in a recent interview, the actor shared what made her want to be a part of the project. Kirti also recalled her experience working with Himesh, who is best known as a music composer, and said that she appreciated his clear vision.

In a recent interview recalled wanting to alter a few dialogues, and said that Himesh made it clear that there could be no changes. “Himesh and I exist in parallel worlds. How can they ever meet? I remember there were a few dialogues and I wanted to improve them, add something to them, remove something or say them differently, and he told me no. It was almost like take it or leave it but this is what it is. He made it clear that if I say yes to the film, I’ll have to do things his way or not do the film at all. That was the moment that I knew I’ll do the film,” Kirti said in an interview with News18.

She added, “He was like, ‘Don’t mess with what we have. This is what it is.’ I wasn’t offended. I was happy that here’s somebody who knows what he’s doing.”

The film Badass Ravikumar is produced by Himesh’s banner, Himesh Reshammiya Melodies. A spin-off of Himesh’s 2014 film The Xposé, the film is a pastiche of 80s-style Bollywood potboilers.

The film also features Prabhu Deva as the antagonist gangster, alongside Simona J, Saurabh Sachdeva, Sanjay Mishra, and Johnny Lever.

Directed by Keith Gomes, Badass Ravikumar was described as ‘a tribute to 1980s masala entertainers’ after it landed. It has earned around Rs 10 crore so far, roughly the same as Loveyapa, with which it clashed at the box office.
