India vs South Africa, 3rd ODI: Yashasvi Jaiswal scores maiden ODI ton, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma slam fifties as IND defeat SA by 9 wickets

Good steady spell this from Arshdeep Singh, he has bowled eight overs and in this one he has delivered four. Although he has not picked up a wicket, he maintained the pressure which was built by Prasidh Krishna with those wickets through the middle passage. As we update, Kuldeep Yadav has picked up the wicket with the old ball. That was a tossed-up delivery wide outside the off-stump, which Brevis tried to whack through mid-wicket, got beaten in the air, and ended up skying the ball, which Rohit Sharma at point took. India is into the lower-order batting of South Africa now.

This has been a pretty productive period for India with this semi-old ball; they have managed to hit their marks, and most importantly, the variations have been quite spot on. This was the phase in the first two games when the bowlers were the Indian bowlers had a bit of a hard time trying to execute their variations due to the dew factor, but in this game, they have bowled quite well with the wet ball. And now that there will be only one ball from here on, the onus is on South Africa to bat differently, as the ball will not come as nicely onto the bat as it did in the previous games.

It has been a brilliant century from De Kock. He did take a bit of time initially when the ball was moving a bit, but once he got his eye in, he has played it quite brilliantly. It has been a perfect knock from him. Everything has flown pretty smoothly, and the tempo has been near perfect. The pull shot has worked out superbly. Now, with a couple of wickets falling from the other end, he must go on to build a partnership with Brevis till that 40th over before launching in again. The way they are going at the moment, South Africa should be looking to get around the 350-mark.

Pacers have come back for spells for India. It is Prasidh Krishna and Harshit Rana. Prasidh must have a clear plan in his head, and with the field set in terms of what he wants to do in this burst. It might be just a 2-3 over spell unless he manages to pick a couple of wickets. His natural length might work better for him with the ball losing a bit of seam now. As per Rana, today he did bowl well with the new ball, but it is this phase in the middle overs with his slower balls on these sticky afternoon wickets that he can chip in with wickets through the middle overs. As we update, Prasidh picks up Breetzke.

It was a clever delivery from Jadeja, he was bowling stump to stump through, and as a subtle variation, he threw one wide, asking Bavuma to play that cut shot, which he obliged, but did seemed like he was taken by a bit of surprise and ended up giving the catch to the point fielder Virat Kohli. This is what we were mentioning in our previous update on these afternoon wickets in India, where it tends to stick a bit due to a bat of slowish nature, due to the baking sun, Jadeja becomes quite lethal in the middle overs.

Apart from that wicket in the first over, it has been all South Africa. Quinton De Kock has reached his half-century here, and he has shown his class already. In the first two games, he did miss out a bit, but today he has been quite sublime. It was vintage De Kock, the same guy who was a nightmare back in that 2012-15 era. The way he is going here, we might see him replicate one of those knocks. As per the bowling, the new-ball spell from Harshit and Arshdeep was quite superb, but since the change of bowlers and spinners have come in floodgates have opened up for India.

That is a pretty poor start for Prasidh Krishna yet again. He just has not found his length for this wicket; he is hitting his natural length, which is in the slot for De Kock to play his pull through the hips, which is his bread and butter shot. The field set of having a long-off, square leg with third man and fine-leg suggests that Prasidh wants to mix up his lenghts bowling full and short trying to scramble the mind of the batter but in this case he has been outfoxed as everything that Prasidh has bowled is a strenght of De Kock and not something he is used to messing up in his international career.

Arshdeep Singh has started well here yet again. He was quite good in the first two games, given the dew factor and how conducive the wickets were for batting and today, with a bit of bounce and stickiness, he has mixed things nicely, unsettling the batters. One of the prominent features of Arshdeep is his ability to slip in a sharp bumper. It is not as quick as such, but it is high enough to surprise the batters. Because of his bumper, his ability to pitch the ball up with the new cherry to swing it makes him doubly threatening.

It has been a good start for India here. They have bowled back-to-back maidens. There has not been a swing and seam moment as such, but both Arshdeep and Rana have worked with the angles quite nicely. In addition to pitching the balls in the right area, the subtle bowling away from the stumps has helped Arshdeep to pick up that first wicket. Even Harshit has been quite subtle with his deliveries in that opening over. One Thing India can do today is bring in Prasidh Krishna early into the mix and give him a crack with the ball, especially after what happened in the last game.

"It's a warm-ish afternoon. Dimensions - 63m and 62m square boundaries, 73m straight down the ground. The pitch looks really good. It's nice and hard, there's a good grass covering which will keep things together. There are a few little cracks but I don't see them playing a part. There's going to be carry, even the spinners will get some bounce. With the dew factor, if you win the toss, you bowl first. At 8 PM yesterday, there wasn't much dew, that's a consolation for anyone bowling second. This is a 70-30 red-black soil mixture, so there'll be bounce and carry."

We would have bowled first. A good start upfront will set it up for the middle order, we'll try and put a competitive score on the board and then hopefully defend it. It's been entertaining, hasn't it? From the red ball stuff now to the white ball stuff. The crowd has come out and I'm sure they'll be rooting for the Indian side. Today is another important one and like always, we'll do our best to make sure we're on the right side of the result. We've got two changes. Rickelton and Baartman come in. Both of them (Burger and de Zorzi) sustained injuries in the last ODI, I think they'll be out for a couple of weeks. It'll give another opportunity for Baartman and Rickelton to deliver.
