Madhuri Dixit left India after marrying Dr Shriram Nene in 1999, and after staying there for almost a decade, the couple moved back to India. While Madhuri’s career was based in Mumbai, her husband worked in the US. Madhuri had already bid adieu to her career after getting married so when the family decided to move back to India, and Madhuri resumed her career, it was a big change for Dr Nene as he had been practising medicine in the US until then. In a recent interview, Madhuri shared why they moved back, and what her life was like in the US.

Madhuri appeared on Ranveer Allahbadia’s YouTube channel and was asked about her life in the US. She shared, “Life there was amazing and peaceful. I had my kids, and I was spending every moment with them, basically living my dream. Looking after them, taking them to the park, playing with them and all those kinds of things.”

Madhuri Dixit was then asked why she and her husband decided to move back to India and the actor replied that there were a lot of factors behind their decision. “A lot of things happened. My parents were living with me; all my siblings are in the US. Even Ram’s family is there. My parents were getting older, and they wanted to come back to India. All my life and career, they were with me, and I didn’t want to leave them alone.”

Madhuri added, “Secondly, my work was here. I used to come to India, do my work, and then go back to the US. That was becoming very difficult because of the distance. Ram also felt that most of the patients that come to him are in an extremely bad state. He wanted to catch their problems early on. So he wanted to develop a kind of system to make people healthy, to look afetr ther wellness.”

Finally, the actor said that the family felt that the move to India would be best for everyone, as Madhuri’s parents would get this wish, she’d be closer to her work, and her husband would get a fresh start. “We both thought that maybe this is a calling, because everything was falling into place. I already had my work here, and he wanted a change as well, so we thought that moving to India would be a great move for the entire family,” said Madhuri.
