Gaslight trailer: Sara Ali Khan plays Misha, a young paraplegic woman confined to a wheelchair, who returns to her family’s royal estate after 15 years at the behest of her estranged father, only to learn that he’s mysteriously missing.

A royal world of secrets, deceit, murder and mystery. The trailer of Gaslight, headlined by actor Sara Ali Khan, was launched on Tuesday. The Disney+ Hotstar film also stars Vikrant Massey, Chitrangda Singh, Akshay Oberoi and Rahul Dev amongst others.

The two-minute trailer features Sara as Misha, a young paraplegic woman confined to a wheelchair, who returns to her family’s royal estate after 15 years at the behest of her estranged father, only to learn that he’s mysteriously missing. Misha is soon caught in the midst of strange happenings, in the company of Rukmini (Chitrangda) and Kapil (Vikrant) and tries hard to dig the truth which is buried deep within a mountain of secrets.

Directed by Pavan Kirpalani, known for helming Radhika Apte starrer Phobia, Gaslight is billed as a mind-bending, psychological thriller.  Sara Ali Khan described Gaslight as a “classic whodunit” and said it was a tough role to pull off.

“It was challenging to get into this role both mentally and physically as she’s a very layered and nuanced character. I hope this film is going to be a thrilling ride for the audience as each scene will keep them at the edge of their seat,” Sara said in a statement.

Vikrant said shooting Gaslight was an “incredible” journey. “The film is a murder mystery with unraveling of truths of each character which makes it more interesting. Kapil is a complex character. The audience will enjoy the film throughout. I am excited to collaborate with Disney+ Hotstar and hope audiences enjoy this film,” he added.

Actor Chitrangda Singh, who said she had always been fascinated by thrillers, called Gaslight as the film that gave her the opportunity to “explore” and enabled her to mold herself into a character like never before.

“I could explore various facets of myself as an actor with the character of Rukmini and it was indeed something very different. I am glad to be a part of the Disney+ Hotstar family and hope audiences are ready to experience this thrilling journey with Gaslight.”

Produced by Ramesh Taurani, Tips Films Ltd. and Akshai Puri, 12th Street Entertainment, the film is set to release on March 31.
