The blast comes just two days after a Russian general was killed in a car bombing in Moscow.(AP Photo) Two police officers and another person were killed in a blast in southern Moscow on Wednesday, news agency Reuters reported quoting the State Investigative Committee.
Several explosions were heard at the site today where Lieutenant General Fanil Sarvarov was killed by a car bomb on Monday, the news agency reported quoting Baza and SHOT Telegram channels.
When two police officers approached a man who was acting strangely, they were killed by an explosive device, and a third person was also killed, Reuters noted. The Investigative Committee did not specify who the third person was.
The Telegram channels said the bomber was one of those killed and he detonated the bomb when approached by the officers.
Reuters was not able to independently verify the reports. There is no official confirmation from Russian authorities about the incident yet.
Soon after the blast, Russia opened criminal cases under clauses dealing with the murder of law enforcement officers and the illegal trafficking of bombs, the country’s State Investigative Committee stated.

56-year-old Sarvarov, head of the Operational Training Directorate of the Russian Armed Forces’ General Staff died from the injuries after the bomb went off in his car on Monday, AP had reported quoting Russia’s Investigative Committee spokesperson Svetlana Petrenko.
