Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur (IIT Kharagpur) offers scholarships to meritorious and deserving students every year, which include both college fee concessions and direct benefit transfers to students’ bank accounts. Here are the scholarships that an IIT Kharagpur aspirant must know:

MCM scholarships

–The institute itself funds these scholarships.

–Scholarships are awarded on a merit-cum-means basis to eligible students enrolled in the four-year BTech(Hons), five-year Dual Degree, five-year BArch(Hons), five-year Integrated MSc courses, and four-year BS programme.

–Students who are admitted to any of these programs, except those belonging to SC and ST categories (who are eligible for post-matric scholarships from their respective state governments) and students meeting specific conditions, are eligible for merit-cum-means (MCM) scholarships.

–MCM scholarships are awarded to up to 25% of students admitted each year to the Undergraduate and Dual Degree courses.

–The value of these shall be as determined by the Board of Governors from time to time.

–All MCM scholarship holders will be entitled to exemption from payment of institute tuition fees. They shall, however, be required to pay all other prescribed fees.

–The MCM will be payable for all 12 months of the academic session, from July of one year to June of the following year.

–The scholarship for July will be paid in full, regardless of the reopening date after the summer vacation, provided the student registers on the prescribed date. If a student joins later, the scholarship amount for July will be calculated on a pro-rata basis.

–A student is not allowed to receive more than one scholarship at the same time. If an awardee becomes eligible for another scholarship from a different source, they must choose one and inform the Dean of Undergraduate Studies in writing about their decision.

–The initial grant of the scholarship and its annual renewal, upon proper application, will be subject to specific conditions established by the institute. These are the conditions:

– The student must meet the merit criterion established for the scholarship.
– The parent or guardian of the student must fulfil the means criterion set for scholarship eligibility.
– No disciplinary action should have been taken against the student, nor should any be pending, during the preceding year.
– The student must not have been punished for examination malpractice or for violating the code of conduct in any Institute, Hall of Residence, Department, Gymkhana, etc.
– The merit criterion for awarding the scholarship includes the following:
– For new entrants, the student should have secured at least 60% marks in aggregate, or a grade equivalent to 60% in the qualifying examination for JEE Advanced.

The Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur (IIT Kharagpur) has signed an MoU with the Rhine-Main Universities (RMU), a strategic university alliance in Germany, officials said on Thursday. The agreement was recently signed at TU Darmstadt, Germany, in the presence of a delegation led by Suman Chakraborty, Director, IIT-Kharagpur, along with Ramanuj Banerjee, Counsellor (Science and Technology), Embassy of India, Berlin, and other officials.
