Two commit suicide over financial losses

Police found a few syringes of insulin at the spot. Police suspect the duo took an overdose of insulin.

Police said they found a suicide note in which the duo said they took the extreme step because of financial losses in share and commodity market.

Two Pune-based persons allegedly committed suicide at a hotel in Chiplun in the early hours of Saturday.

Chiplun police identified the deceased as Mahesh Vijay Kulkarni (42) and Milind Panditrao Pujari (44), a resident of Karve Nagar area. Police said that the duo, who dealt in the stock market, were operating from Brahma Garden on Sinhagad Road.

Police said they checked in at Oasis hotel in Chiplun around 8 pm on Thursday. At 12.10 am on Saturday, one of them called the receptionsaying they were felling unwell and need help.

Hotel staff rushed to their room. But even after ringing the doorbell repeatedly, they did not open the door. The hotel staff opened the door using a master key. The staff found Kulkarni lying unconscious. Pujari was conscious.

Soon, a team of Chiplun police reached the hotel and took Kulkarni and Pujari to a hospital. Kulkarni was declared dead on arrival and Pujari died around 6 am.

Police said they found a suicide note in which the duo said they took the extreme step because of financial losses in share and commodity market. The note also mentioned that their families and office staff should not be held responsible for their death, police said.

Police also found a few syringes of insulin at the spot. Police suspect the duo took an overdose of insulin.
