A 25-year-old man fell into a drain at Malad (East) in Mumbai’s western suburbs on Wednesday afternoon and has since been missing.

Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation officials said that Chandan Dilip Saha fell into a drain around 5.16 pm and was probably dragged into the Poisar river by strong currents of water.

“The place where the incident took place is a forest area and there is a dam nearby. So it could be possible that he got drawn into the deep water due to strong tidal currents,” said Kiran Dighavkar, assistant municipal commissioner.
