Differently-abled student scores 92 %

“Priyanka had always been among the first three toppers in her class. She is extremely hardworking and religiously did her homework. Her teachers and classmates helped her whenever she had difficulty in taking down notes ” said her father Nagesh Patil,who works in a bank. Priyanka relied on hearing aid and lip reading to understand the lessons.

“Looking at her dedication,enthusiasm and excellence,we decided to shift her to a CBSE school when she was going to standard V. By then we had realised that she would be able to cope with CBSE syllabus,” said her mother Sukanya,a housewife,who is,according to Priyanka’s father,mainly responsible for their daughter’s success.

“What is commendable is that along with other subjects,she managed to score 85% in English. Students with speech and hearing imparity find it tough to get such marks in languages. She has always been a good student and we were never worried about her,” said Avnita Bir,principal,RN Poddar School. Teachers had found their own way to communicate with her and gave the support she needed.
