The US consulate has come up with a pilot programme to make the process of applying for an US visa simpler. The pilot programme is aimed at exempting the applicants from appearing in the visa interview if the applicants meet certain criteria fixed by the consulate. Significantly,the interview-waiver scheme was announced this January by US President Barack Obama as one of the travel and tourism initiatives.
