Celebrity trainer Rujuta Diwekar whips up another diet for women with image issues
who famously trained actor Kareena Kapoor to achieve her size-zero look.
The book is divided into seven chapters covering puberty, pregnancy, menopause, and explains the various weight-related anxieties faced by women today, particularly over the way they look. When women start cribbing about their appearance,it gets manifested in the way they eat and they start gaining weight. The first chapter tries to explain these anxieties away, adds Diwekar.
The 400-page paperback also has an audio version (Rs 200) with a four-page narration of a personal note by Kareena Kapoor, giving accounts of how she secretly binges from time to time on her favourite desserts, and still managed her weight loss through regular exercises and diet management.
The crux of the book though,is the weight loss industry and how it is aggressively marketed in the media. Diwekar debunks quick-fix solutions for weight loss and asks women to stop feeling apologetic about weight gain. We are what we eat. So I have explained how food is grown and how it benefits individuals differently, she continues. The audio version is of an 11-hour duration.
Diwekar hopes that people will at least listen to her book, even if they do not find time to read it. The book, she claims, arose from the popularity of her first novel,Dont Lose Your Mind,Lose Your Weight.
After my first book,I wanted to write about children and nutrition. But my publisher did not seem too excited by that. So I settled on a second book which develops a deeper understanding about weight loss. In this way I touch upon nutrition at least, she quips.
