N K Singh, M J Akbar join BJP

Akbar said he was joining politics not for power but for policies to revive the country’s economy.

A day after quitting the JD(U), Rajya Sabha MP N K Singh joined the BJP Saturday. Senior journalist M J Akbar also took a plunge in active politics by joining the saffron party.

While Singh, whose RS term is set to expire next month, said the BJP was the only party that could provide a stable government to revive the gloomy situation in the country, Akbar said he was joining politics not for power but for policies to revive the country’s economy.

“We need a strong and stable government to rejuvenate our sagging morale. Only the BJP can provide the purposive and resolute policies, programmes and leadership in the current scenario,” N K Singh said.

Aizaz Ilmi, brother of AAP leader Shazia Ilmi, also joined the BJP Saturday. He is likely to campaign for BJP candidate, former Army Chief Gen V K Singh, in Ghaziabad against his own sister, Shazia.
