Fadnavis burn: Maharashtra CM teaches police how to respond to citizens on Twitter

Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis pulled up Thane Police officials for not helping out a man who complained about a traffic jam in Thane.

Devendra Fadnavis, Thane POlice, twitter, news, india news Rest assured, the Thane Police will think twice before responding on Twitter.

Frustrated that your tweets about Thane’s crazy traffic aren’t getting a response? Fret not, you now have Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’ support.

On Tuesday night, after a Mumbai resident, who goes by the name Dps S on Twitter, sought help from the police about a traffic jam at ghodunder check naka in Thane, he got the usual bureaucratic response: “Jurisdiction of Thane rural police. kindly intimate them.” But luckily for him, Chief Minister Fadnavis, who was also tagged in the tweet, responded to the Thane Police with a ‘what-your-reply-should-have-been’ tweet.

“Your reply should be ‘It is under Thane Rural Police jurisdiction and “we will inform them”.'”

The Thane Police, clearly taken aback, tweeted a good 45 minutes later: “Sir, as a protocol, we always call & inform the concerned authority irrespective of the jurisdiction & it was done in this case too. However you have rightly pointed out that the complainant should be told that too. Thank you sir.”

Here’s how it all unfolded:

One thing’s for sure, you can now ensure your tweets about traffic jams in Mumbai and Thane will get a prompt response. Thank you, Fadnavis!
